SMALL TIME:
Made some small stuff this week for friends at work. Two almost identical folios, one of which will hold documents, the other of which will hold a Macbook Air, and a Leatherman case, which will hold a Leatherman (duh).
All are English Bridle with Irish linen thread. I may end up offering the folio through the store, but in the meantime, if you are interested in something similar, get at me here.
AT HOME:
Got all domestic today and made this centerpiece for our dining room table while my wife did some terrariums. I am very pleased with the results. It is rather reminiscent of the album cover for The Bees Made Honey In The Lion’s Skull, by Earth, which is an epic record BTW.
TREAT (My)SELF:
Finished my personal briefcase (above). It was nice to not have to send it right to a customer as soon as it was done. This was the first time I’ve logged the time spent working on one bag; it took roughly 25 hours to complete. I’d like to get it below 20 in the future, which I think is possible.
Specs:
+ English Bridle leather; 6 oz. for body, 14 oz. for straps
+ Solid brass hardware
+ Waxed Irish linen thread
+ Hand stitched seams
+ Business card/ID holder, pen slots, interior patch pocket (to carry only the essentials, such as Mast Brothers Chili Peppers chocolate bars)
+ Exterior sleeve on back
+ 12” x 16” x 6”
*Please excuse the poor photo quality, cheesy “modern” hotel room furniture and wall paper; I didn’t have a chance to shoot this before I went away on business.
If anybody cares, I tweaked my online store a bit, which can now be found at www.thesawyercabinetco.com. That’s right diehard fans, time to update your bookmarks.
Have a great weekend, all.
